Support a Good Samaritan

Meet David and Elizabeth, a couple who opened their hearts and home to Grace. She was in tremendous need after she was abandoned by her father due to her physical disability. Grace was born normally and at the age of two, she developed some strange sickness that made her parents seek help from a witch doctor because the hospitals were very far away. The witch doctor instructed them to place her in an ant hill for termites to bite her as “treatment.” This left her totally crippled from the age of 2 to date. She lost her mother in 2005 and was left in the care of her grandmother who also later passed away in 2019, leaving her helpless. This left Grace with no immediate person to care for her since her sisters had married and her father abandoned her. This changed her life for the worse. It is said she was eating grass and soil for survival while she slept on the bare floor under a ruined roof that rain poured through.

On hearing this, David visited Grace and shared her story with his wife. Despite the challenges they were facing, Grace’s resilience and smile captivated Elizabeth and David to provide her with a loving and supportive environment. They welcomed Grace with open arms into their family, and she quickly became an integral part of their lives. While they have been caring for her, none of her family have come to see how she is doing. Unfortunately, her father passed away in 2022. As Grace settled into her new home, David and Elizabeth ensured that she was well taken care of. The family’s love and dedication has helped Grace blossom, and she has begun to realize her worth. Their selflessness and compassion have created a safe haven for Grace, her laughter echoes through their home, and her smiles brighten their days. Grace’s story is a statement of power, love, acceptance, and inclusivity.

AEM came to know about this through the DBS weekly program where this testimony of love was shared. Since then, our donors have provided her with a mattress, a wheelchair, and some clothing in addition to monthly medical checkups.

Our 2024 mission team visited Grace while they were in Uganda and realized that a new hut is desperately needed. A new hut will be constructed with a metal roof and concrete floor. These features will aid in keeping her clean and dry and ease the burden of daily care & hygiene. The iron sheets will be leak proof and last a long time. As much as this young family has tried to help Grace, we saw their overwhelming need for support through food, clothes, and adult diapers.

Your generosity can help families like David’s to continue to provide a loving environment for people like Grace.

Raise the Fence

Bring Home Our Cows

AEM purchased 4-5 acres in 2022 and have been slowly developing the property as a home for the ministry.  The first step was to build 7 huts in order to host short term mission teams (‘22) and then pastor trainings (‘23) and student retreats (‘24).  In 2023 we added a pavilion that allows our teams to serve meals rain or shine and is now our most treasured structure providing precious shade and a gathering place for community, fellowship, worship and training.  2024 brought the first season to plant our own crops on the land. Watch the video to learn more.

The property fence will give AEM the ability to bring home the cows which the Lord has provided. This is a huge step to becoming a self sustainable beacon of hope to the community. The AEM property will be a place where Discovery Bible Studies are held, Pastors are trained, nutrition is provided for those in need, and the love of Jesus can be shared.  Currently halfway to our goal, we can’t wait to share the joy of the harvest with all who help Raise the Fence and invest in the bright future of Akote Edeke Ministries.

"Ebaga" (Christmas) Dinner

As we begin to think about Christmas (“Ebaga” in the local language)and celebrating the birth of our Savior, we have an opportunity to be a blessing in a HUGE way. Will you consider a gift of any amount to provide a Christmas dinner and celebration for the 18 AEM sponsored children and their single parents or guardians? We were able to host a gathering for them last year at the AEM Outreach Center for the very first time. This is also a time to appreciate our full time staff who labor for the Kingdom each week. The goal is $400.

Give The Word

We have seen so many lives changed through the simple gift of a Bible. Giving the Word provides believers with the opportunity to read the truth and commands of God for themselves. This provides them with the ability to refute the lies of the enemy and align their lives with Christ. You can be a part of planting love in Uganda through giving the Word.
