AEM Outreach Day
September 5th, 2024
Our AEM team woke up bright and early at 5 am to serve and spread the love of Christ in Anyara. After starting the day with a morning devotion together the AEM team, sponsored children, and reforming youth joined together to serve the Anyara community.
The first service project of the day was cleaning Anyara Health Center there in Anyara. This included clearing the compound of trash and cleaning the wards and latrines. Members of the local community even joined in on the service efforts. According to our Children’s Director, Praise, this time was full of fun and laughter. Patients and staff members were so grateful for the time and energy that the AEM group took to serve them. A mother even let the sponsored children be the first individuals outside of the immediate family to hold their newborn baby to show her gratitude. This is a great honor in Ugandan culture. Once they completed the cleaning at the health center, they moved on to the Trading Center.
During their time at the Anyara Trading Center, the service team swept the market area and removed trash. They also talked with the locals while they were cleaning. This caused the traders to feel seen and valued by the community. Praise stated that community leaders even came to see the work that was being done. “They encouraged us but they could not believe the number of youth who had come for community service because as we cleaned, many more youth came from their homes with brooms, hoes, and pangas to join the team” (Praise). This time was so beneficial for the reformed youth who joined in because they felt part of the community again instead of outsiders. It also gave local people a chance to see them in a new light.
To close out the day, those involved in the service day attended a local soccer match for a time of fellowship, sportsmanship, and laughter. During this time, 30 Bibles were distributed and two reformed teenagers gave their lives to Christ! Praise Jesus!
We’re grateful for our partners, donors, and team members who made this day possible. Together, let’s continue spreading the love of Christ, planting love, and harvesting hope!
Impact of AEM Outreach Day

Teenagers who once struggled with addiction and were viewed as outsiders, served their community with pride and were being seen as a part of the community.
Service and fellowship played a key role in building bridges within the local community. Through this, the community of Anyara and individuals within it were being transformed by the love of Jesus Christ.
