Hi, my name is Ashanut Praise Obure. I am 24 years old and currently live in Soroti Uganda. I love spending time with people and sharing the love of God with them.
I first learned about AEM while I was a student. Mr. Daniel Okwara, AEM co-founder and In-Country Director for Uganda was one of my instructors at the time who led the Scripture Union Club at our school. One day he asked me what I wanted the most in this life. I told him “above everything I want to try my best to give hope to people, especially those who have lost all hope and make them feel loved.” It sounded funny because all my peers at that time spoke differently. That’s when he told me about AEM and invited me to volunteer with the ministry. I did so happily because deep down in my heart I knew this was an opportunity to express how I felt to the world. When I joined AEM in 2020, I was given an opportunity to handle the children’s program which is doing so well. I have built relationships with the children and over time they have learned to express themselves without fear and to socialize freely with people.
AEM is a blessing to many people, it shows love and gives hope to people through the various ministry activities carried out. The fact that every year a team comes to Uganda to spend time and share love with people makes everyone feel special and loved. It means a lot for someone to leave their home to travel to a foreign land to spend time with foreign people, but because of God’s love through AEM it happens every year. I believe in the future AEM will expand and reach out to more communities and people. I am sure the word of God will spread out like a wildfire through AEM because AEM is available for God to work through it. To all who support this ministry, “Thanks for making it happen.”
