Will You Answer the Call?

The very last command that Jesus gave to his disciples was to go and make disciples of all nations. One way that you can be obedient to this command is by GOING! You have the opportunity to go now. Akote Edeke Ministries will be taking a team to Uganda June 22nd – July 5th, 2025. During this mission trip, you will be fully engulfed in the culture of the Ugandan village of Akatakwi and staying on AEM’s compound in huts living like the local people. While we are in the village we will be doing Mercy Ministry, Discovery Bible Studies, Children’s Saturday Program, Hut to Hut Evangelism, and spending time with AEM’s Sponsored Children.

My name is Riley Allen, and I had the privilege to be a part of the 2024 AEM Love team!

At the beginning of our stay in Uganda, I was told by the local council leaders, “This place is your home too, so be at peace,” and I truly cannot begin to describe how much Uganda became my home during our short time there! Initially, I was super anxious about misunderstanding anyone or even misrepresenting the gospel. This was my first mission trip and the reality of my lack of qualifications hit me hard on the first day, but I was led to the verse:

“But as for me, God’s presence is my good. I have made the Lord God my refuge, so I can tell about all you do.” Psalms 73:28

Right then and there I realized that I needed nothing else and the people I came to serve in Uganda needed nothing else but God. After confessing that, I was able to do skits and worship God in front of hundreds of kids without worrying about how silly I looked or sounded. I danced the cotton eye joe in front of a 100-year-old man and went into sharing the gospel and God’s love with no previous plans but pure joy and love because I learned that God‘s presence was for my good so why wouldn’t I?
